Ways to Serve
There are a host of ways to serve at WCC. Here are just a few needs you may explore
Beginning January 7, 2018, we will have two church services: 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM. We want to help newcomers and those with assisted mobility find parking as close to the church as possible. Join our new team of Parking Greeters forming right now – we are accepting teenagers on up. Contact Rev. Anne, Peter Shouvlin or Mike Cella.
Children’s Church Volunteer
In this new year of possibility, give back to this community that hasgiven you so much by volunteering with our littlest members. Children’s Church is in need of volunteers to help teach during our 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM services. All teachers are paired with another volunteer to co-teach a lesson that will be provided to you ahead of time. We ask volunteers to commit to teaching during one Sunday service on a monthly basis. Interested? Contact Lydia Gajdel.
Our Sharp Hill Cemetery, with its adjacent church-sponsored adopt-a-spot, is a beautiful and tranquil patch of town history on busy Rt 7. The Building and Grounds Committee is searching for volunteers to form an informal sub-committee to maintain this hallowed ground. This would entail pruning and general sprucing-up, perhaps 2-3 times a year…or whenever you are able. If interested, please contact Sarah Strader.
WCC now has a recycling bin for used textiles in the parking lot behind Pilgrim Hall. Please support the church and the community by placing your unwanted textiles in the box. This is not like Goodwill, as we will take them in any condition. These are collected and recycled by Bay States Textiles. They are either mended and sold to third world countries, turned into wiping cloths, or made into filler material. This reduces the amount of waste going into our landfills. They need to be put in plastic bags before putting them in the box. Click here for a list of acceptable items.
Each week of the year, our Flowers Committee arranges flowers for the altar. If you would like to donate flowers in memory of someone, to honor someone or in celebration of something, look for the 2018 flower chart and write your name next to the date. Then, take an order form and give us the details (order forms are where the flower chart is hung, in the hallway outside the Sanctuary leading to Pilgrim Hall, or you can download a form. A date is guaranteed when the form is submitted to the office with payment.
Do you have travel-size toiletries that you’re willing to donate? Please drop them off in the basket in the lobby by the church office. These items will help clients at Norwalk’s Keystone House.
