After my sermon last Sunday, Senior Deacon Rich Marriott sent me this linkHThanks. It is to a story on NPR about how gratitude is not only good for the soul, but cardiologists say that it helps the heart too!
We need healthy hearts and minds these days, because there are troubling things happening in our world. How wonderful that this Thanksgiving holiday will give each of us a little space to focus on gratitude.
My prayer is that each of us will have a Thanksgiving where we will be able to take the time to be grateful for all of God’s blessings. I am also praying that as we enter in to Advent, we will be able to see it not as a busy, frantic time, but, instead, a time in which we are given the opportunity to grow closer to God and to our families, our friends, and our church.
